QEC - We are talking to the Germans!
Conservative MP Shannon Stubbs asked how there has been so little progress advancing export terminals and why there didn’t seem to be funding within the budget for the working group.
“The U.S. has managed to construct seven LNG facilities in the time that Canada has lost 25 opportunities,” she said.
Wilkinson insisted the government was looking for good projects, but needed ones that would be ready quickly.
“We have been working with the Germans in particular looking at the opportunity to be able to actually find something that fits within their window.”
“I’ve spent an enormous amount of time with our European colleagues and certainly we have endeavoured to do everything we can to support them, including expanding oil and gas production,” he said.
There’s also significant work going on in Western Canada with respect to the production of hydrogen from natural gas.”

One soon begins to believe that Canadian politicians are less gifted and especially those from Quebec, not to mention Legault
Germany’s contract for Qatari gas begins in 2026, meaning that tankers of Qatari gas will be sailing into German ports until at least 2041.
The scope and longevity of the contract would seem to defy Trudeau government claims that German gas demands were merely a temporary stop-gap that carried no long-term opportunity for Canada.
In a press conference touting the German deal, Qatar’s Minister of Energy Saad al-Kaabi boasted about the “long-term” nature of the agreement, and assured the Germans that Qatar could guarantee their “long-term energy security.”
On Thursday, Jonathan Wilkinson, the federal energy minister, told the House of Commons natural resources committee there’s a three-year window for Canada on natural gas, and then Europe will begin pivoting to hydrogen, “which is something that Canada is very interested in supplying to Germany.”
Natural Resources Canada has already received applications for five proposed Atlantic Coast LNG terminals; two in Quebec and three in Nova Scotia. This includes the stalled $8-billion Goldboro LNG project, which could be completed on a particularly accelerated timeline given new plans to build the facility on a floating barge.

"Ottawa is keen to help."!!!
Quebec and the federal government have the opportunity to help Germany in its energy crisis and it is positive that Germany and Canada have been in dialogue since Olaf Scholz visited Canada
"Michael Binnion, President and Chief Executive Officer of Questerre, commented, “Although Bill 21 was enacted during the quarter, the Quebec election is now over. There could be an opportunity for a less political approach to energy security by the Quebec Government. We remain open to a political and business solution as the growing demand for clean energy only highlights the value of our project."

THIS is a game changer of a magnitude!
Now the Canadian government is not only talking about hydrogen export but LNG as well,
Its a change of tune
Germany’s short-term goal is to get products from Canada within the next three years. Ottawa is keen to help. There are opportunities to ship LNG from Canada’s East Coast, Wilkinson said, flagging that the distance between the two countries makes the economics “more challenging.”

I think that the energy crisis has made people and politicians wake up
The Canadian Pressabout 2 hours agoabout 2 hours ago
"I think it started an upward shift in our industry. We got better because of the pressure."
That "pressure" forced the oil and gas sector to become more aware of issues like climate changeand Indigenous reconciliation, Monaco said. He said the industry is now "genuinely keen" to reduce emissions.
Unsurprisingly, considering the scale of the company's natural gas assets in North America, Monaco remains bullish on both natural gas and Canada's potential to lead as a global LNG exporter.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
He said he believes the turbulence has brought the industry — and most of society — to some kind of middle ground, where climate progress and energy security can coexist. And that means oil, he said.
"It's not about 'either/or,' " Monaco said. “You’ve got to have energy to meet the economic and societal needs, but you’ve also got to reduce emissions."
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Unsurprisingly, considering the scale of the company's natural gas assets in North America, Monaco remains bullish on both natural gas and Canada's potential to lead as a global LNG exporter.
But Monaco is a proponent of the "bridge fuel" argument that natural gas — and by extension, Canadian LNG — can help get other countries off of coal.
He also sees it as an important piece of the energy security equation within the context of the Ukraine war, natural gas shortages in Europe, and rising energy costs for consumers everywhere.

Trafigura nears German-backed multi-billion dollar loan for LNG
Victoria FetcherDecember 5, 2022

The loan, worth around $3 billion to $4 billion, would be linked to Trafigura supplying liquefied natural gas to Germany, people familiar with the matter said, who asked not to be named because the talks are private.
A spokeswoman for Euler Hermes declined to comment, referring questions to the Economy Ministry. A spokesman for the economy ministry declined to comment.
