In addition to the increased durability shown below, Nano One’s LNMO also eliminates cobalt from the battery, thereby addressing the ethical and supply chain issues related to artisanal cobalt mining in Africa for use in lithium ion batteries.

An unrelated publication from Tesla's research team, released shortly thereafter, demonstrated the possibility of million mile batteries using single-crystal cathode materials with advanced electrolyte.

Nano One’s coated nanocrystal innovation is described in a 90 second animation and addresses a fundamental battery tradeoff between energy density and durability. Increased durability would provide electric vehicle manufacturers greater flexibility in optimizing range, charging rates, safety and cost. Increased durability also enables the reduction of cobalt in batteries to address cost, supply, and ethical issues.

Each of Nano One’s cathode technologies - lithium iron phosphate (LFP); nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC); and high voltage spinel (HVS or LNMO) - form coated nanocrystals with a range of benefits and applications.

Tesla sitt nye batteri er etter sigende utarbeidet på et universitet i Canada
Nano one har seks ansatte som går på universitet Canada.

Nano one sitt patenterte teknologi tror jeg også vil passe til andre nyutviklede batterier på forskningstadiet fra f.eks Kjeller i Norge eller Australia .

Jeg har kjøpt det jeg ønsket å ha av aksjer på fredag og legger de i skuffen.
Kommer til å ta tid før det tar av men tror denne kan gi en utrolig avkastning fra 90 mill CAD. I børsverdi

Hvorfor skulle jeg tro at VW og Tesla vil samarbeide om dette.

Problemet i batterier er katoden som nå har max 3,7vol oprativspenning.
Kan denne økes vil ladetid og alt annet løse seg.

Jo men tesla har nettopp lansert ett nytt batteri ,kobolt riktignok som er litt større enn det gamle. Og brukes i mod 3.
Hvorfor skulle tesla endre markedsstrategien og legge om produksjonen akkurat når mod 3 begynner å få momentum.
Sier Elon at han har nye batterier på lur vil vel ingen kjøpe de gamle versjonene. Altså bråstopp i mod 3 salget før nye batterier lanseres.
Slik har bilselskapene holdt på i årevis. Holdt igjen tek for å vente ut markedet og konkurrentene.

Tesla kommer garantert ikke til å bruke koboltfrie batterier på en god stund til enda da dette krever mye testing og garantier på at produktet virker som det skal . Men Nano one har også teknologi på batterier med kobolt og ingen vet hvor den nye teknologien som Tesla bruker kommer fra.
Nå regner jeg med at Tesla ønsker og bruke opp det lageret de har av kobolt også før de går over til koboltfritt.
Men allikevel kan de ønske å skaffe seg enerett på koboltfrie batterier f.eks.
De kan også si til sine kunder at de avslutter innkjøp av kobolt og i fremtiden er koboltfri uten at det går ut over salg.

Men glem Tesla det beste er jo en kontrakt med store batterileverandører som LG og Panasonic da det er disse som er leverandør til de fleste bilmerker.
GM lager ny fabrikk i USA for el biler med LG som samarbeidspartner.
Og det samme skjer over hele verden.
Et enormt marked for fremtiden.
Men som sagt jeg regner at det tar tid derfor legg dem i skuffen og slapp av med en kaffe

Det er jo sånn at på en Tesla kan du skru ut batteriet fra undersiden av bilen.
Kommer det ny batteriteknologi, må det gå an å putte i et av den nye type isteden.

Det skjer mye her fremover nå.
Nano er ikke under radaren hos de store husene enda men hva vil skje når den dagen kommer og Nano går over til hovedlisten på Nasdaq.
Nano har altså patentert teknologi på koboltfrie lithiumbatterier.
Noe Tesla og mange andre har jobbet for i mange år.

Nano One’s processing technology simplifies the raw material supply chain, it reduces the cost of manufacturing cathode materials and it produces nanoscale powders that resist cracking and are protected from degradation mechanisms that cause batteries to fade from repeated charging. Nano One Materials Corp., today announced that, pursuant to a 10% over-allotment, the size of its non-brokered private placement that was previously announced on January 30, 2020 and February 5, 2020, is increased by $1,000,000, to a total of up to $11,000,000. The financing will now consist of a total of up to 9,565,217 units (the “Units”) at a price of $1.15 per Unit for total gross proceeds of up to $11,000,000.

Each Unit will consist of one common share and one-half of one common share purchase warrant (each whole such warrant, a “Warrant”). Each Warrant will entitle the holder to purchase an additional common share at a price of $1.60 for a period of 36 months from the closing date. The proceeds of this private placement will be used for corporate development, facilities expansion, technology advancement, and general working capital. In connection with the private placement, the Company may pay finder’s fees in cash or securities or a combination of both, as permitted by the policies of the TSX Venture Exchange.

The shares issued pursuant to the private placement will be subject to a hold period under applicable securities laws, which will expire four months plus one day from the date of closing of the private placement. Closing of the private placement is subject to receipt of all necessary corporate and regulatory approvals, including approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.

It seems the industry agrees as many of the big names continue to partner strategically with Nano One. It looks to be only a matter of time until Nano One’s licensing economic model begins to make money for Nano One. And when it does it should be very profitable, especially if revenues accelerate sharply as the EV boom takes off post 2022. Once revenues and profits kick in then I would expect a significant stock price re-rating.

Vancouver's Nano One benefits from Tesla's lithium battery demand
Vancouver Sun - The meteoric rise of electric-car manufacturer Tesla has increased the demand for lithium batteries and the components that go into them, and a Vancouver materials technology company hopes to grab a share of the business.

Nano One Materials Corp. has developed a new method of making cathode material, a black, powdery substance used in lithium batteries. Nano One is building a $6-million plant to test its ability to produce the substance in commercial quantities in a production line-type setting.

“We are at the stage where we’ve proven the technology at a certain level,” said Nano One CEO Dan Blondal, who founded the company in 2011. “We’ve tested the material and gotten the performance we expected, as well as proving to ourselves that the technology scales. … What we want is learn (with the pilot plant) is whether it’s a platform that will give a manufacturer the ability to make the material for any kind of battery, going into a number of applications.”

The Nano One technology, Blondal said, creates cathode materials that could last up to three times longer in a battery than current materials. That would allow batteries to store more energy while trimming the cost of producing hem.

Blondal said Nano One’s process has generated wide interest including from battery makers and the companies that use batteries in everything from tiny phones to large cars.

He added the bulk of his potential business is in East Asia, since the world’s biggest battery producers are predominantly in China, Japan and South Korea.

Nano One intends to license the technology to a bigger player when the pilot plant proves the production viability of the company’s cathode material.

“That’s one of the areas that many companies stumble and fail,” he said of the commercialization. “We recognize that’s not our strong point, so the plan is to bring in partners who can help us with their expertise in those areas.”

Blondal said automakers are the main drivers of the battery market.

“It’s really going to be the automotive sector that will drive the cost down, because that’s what automotive does,” Blondal said. “They have a very, very strong presence in the supply chain, and they work with suppliers to drive costs down. We expect the same thing with batteries … and we fit neatly into that.”

Tesla’s stock has surged on the NASDAQ to more than $200 today from the $30-range in 2013. The automaker, led by high-profile CEO Elon Musk, made 50,000 electric cars in 2015 and plans to make 500,000 a year starting in 2018.

Tesla chains together thousands of small lithium-ion battery cells because they are produced inexpensively in high numbers — instead of using single, custom-made batteries as in other electric cars on the market. As it ramps up production, it will mean an huge increase in demand for lithium batteries.

A report from Taiyou Research said the global market for lithium batteries is expected to reach US$30 billion by 2020.

Efraim Levy, senior equity research analyst with S&P Global, covers Tesla and said it is clear the automaker is among the dominant reasons for demand in lithium batteries.

“Clearly, Tesla a big driver because they plan to sell 500,000 battery-operated vehicles,” Levy said. “That makes them the elephant in the room that can sway markets. … We’re not seeing 500,000 yet, but they are still buying a good amount of lithium for their vehicles. If they sell 40,000 or 50,000 this year, that still makes them a significant player.”

Nano One’s pilot plant is expected to be completed in early 2017 and the production testing process is expected to take two years.

Officials with Nano One said the company is getting $2.08 million in grants from Sustainable Development Technology Canada, a federally funded foundation that funds the development of clean technology in Canada, for its test plant. The rest is coming from Nano and its investors.
